NSW Aged Care Manager awarded $35,000 Scholarship

Executive Care Manager with Baptist Community Services NSW & ACT Greg Price has won the first Provider Assist National Scholarship valued at $35,000.
Greg’s scholarship includes:
$2,000 spending money
Registration, International airfares and accommodation for the 2 week SAGE Tour, October 2011 – Chicago, NY and Washington including registration and attendance at the international IAHSA conference 
Education and training
Meeting with key international leaders in aged care
Registration, travel and accommodation for the 2011 ACSA National Conference
National Winner Trophy and plaque, and
His CEO will accompany him on the SAGE tour. (www.sagetours.com.au)
SAGE is an industry initiative with peak associations ACSA, ACCA and RVA & is one of the first programs that is a joint enterprise of the three associations.  Provider Assist are the first external SAGE sponsor and are absolutely delighted to have their scholarship winner on the upcoming tour where Greg will be part of a contingent of over 45 leading Australian industry representatives. 
With more than 20 years experience as a Director of Nursing in aged care in NSW and Queensland, Greg has remained passionate about enriching individuals’ lives through a holistic approach to their care.   In 2004, Greg developed an “interaction based care” initiative to assist staff reassess how they engage with the older people in their care – to reinforce the importance of developing relationships and ensuring older people feel valued as individuals.  
In his current role based in Alstonville, NSW, Greg has introduced three new projects:
A community network development initiative with a retired university professor, to develop links with a range of local identities and groups
A 12 month interactive change management program to develop and embed new care initiatives
A project to elicit and share clients’ life stories.
Greg has a diploma in nursing administration and a degree in health administration.  In 2001, he received the Commonwealth award for Professional Excellence in Residential Aged Care.  He has presented 18 papers at Australian conferences and seminars and his work has been widely published.

Aged care funding specialists Provider Assist launched the scholarship program in 2010 to acknowledge and support the invaluable service provided by the aged care sector.
The $56,000 program comprises six state scholarships and a national scholarship open to the winners from each state and territory.
Nominations for the 2012 National Scholarship open on September 14, 2011.  Information and registration details are available at www.providerassist.com.au  The scholarship program is open to anyone employed by an approved provider.
